Understanding Addiction

As a former alcoholic, John is passionate about seeing people set free from addiction through Jesus Christ.  He led a local Celebrate Recovery Ministry for several years in Sandpoint, ID.

Impacted by Poverty

John’s first short-term missions trip was to New Orleans after Katrina with Forward Edge International.  His heart was moved and knew that he would be serving those in need as long as he lived.

Knowing there is Hope!

Through the power of Christ, John was set free, and through Celebrate Recovery John found community and purpose.  We want to see the addicts in Nicaragua free and living with hope again!

Mission Statement

We long to see drug and alcohol addictions eradicated from the Puerto Cabezas area.  Through Celebrate Recovery, every man and woman there have the opportunity to live free from the control of addiction.  We desire that everyone who commits to the CR Program will rise up and be the person that God intended them to be in Christ.

Current Needs

Currently, Maynor Montalvan is leading the CR Groups in Puerto Cabezas and needs gas money for trips since he is in the community every day of the week.   We also pay for car repairs and maintenance adding to roughly $400 per month.   CR is currently looking for space to meet due to the restrictions of the current place they are in.  They need to either build a space or find a new one.

All supplies for CR Nicaragua are paid for through donations, and much of the funding supports the needs of those working to make CR a success in Nicaragua.

In May 2018, John LaPointe, Pastor Chris Bassett with family, along with Gabe Anderson are going to Nicaragua to minister to the people at Verbo Church, the orphanage, Celebrate Recovery and to local ministers in the region.

All donations are run through the Missions Department of Harvest Valley Worship Center.  All funds go directly to ministry activities for CR Nicaragua.
